Talk To Glowfic Characters

So we've started answering comments in "How To Read Effulgence" in character, and that's not really the ideal platform for those conversations. This is! You may address characters here and we may opt to answer in character. You will get a kind of loosely "backstage" out-of-continuity version of the character (in continuity proper, you cannot talk to them, since you aren't there) and if you want them at a specific (past relative to where we're writing) point in time, feel free to specify (e.g. "Addy in 1932", "Shell in her box", "the Joker while committed", "Minus right after he woke up from turning", "the alethiometer on the subject of 1207").

Any glowfic author may use this thread to receive questions.

Do you really, seriously want me to explain why this example isn't the kind of thing I meant and where you went wrong trying to apply it, or are you just screwing around playing with what I said like it's a rule and you're trying to find exceptions?

I mostly understand what you meant, but I’m not sure I understand the boundaries. As I said, I was pretty sure you didn’t mind me keeping my credit card number a secret. However, I think you do mind people keeping secrets from you more than other Jokers do. That was why I asked about the less extreme example of Bells not telling Jokers how to safely use high-value coins; I feel like this might have seriously bothered you where it did not particularly bother most of the others.

I’m sorry for confusing the issue with the credit card example. I often jump to extreme examples when thinking about things in my head and often forget to scale down when communicating with others.

The thing that I mind more than other Jokers do isn't "people keeping secrets from me".

I didn’t mean to imply that was the only thing you minded more than other Jokers do. I think a more general way to phrase what I’m thinking of would be “people trying to manipulate you”, but once I have it in words like that I’m not so sure. You all hate that so much that I’m no longer sure you actually hate it more than the rest do.

How would you describe the thing you mind more than other Jokers? Am I even right that the wishcoin secret would qualify, here, even if not enough that you would mind particularly? Even though I chose a really bad example when I first asked, I am legitimately curious.

Okay...

The thing that I'm touchier about than most Jokers is people trying to control me. "Keeping secrets" only even came up as an example of that because Alice and Stella were in the middle of blowing up over it. The thing about the wishcoins isn't really a huge problem on that level, it's more like credit cards than vampires.
