So we've started answering comments in "How To Read Effulgence" in character, and that's not really the ideal platform for those conversations. This is! You may address characters here and we may opt to answer in character. You will get a kind of loosely "backstage" out-of-continuity version of the character (in continuity proper, you cannot talk to them, since you aren't there) and if you want them at a specific (past relative to where we're writing) point in time, feel free to specify (e.g. "Addy in 1932", "Shell in her box", "the Joker while committed", "Minus right after he woke up from turning", "the alethiometer on the subject of 1207").

Any glowfic author may use this thread to receive questions.

Yseult, how do you pronounce yseult in English?

Jane, do you know why you are female as opposed to not having gender or being a boy ansible network?

Linyabel, have the haut madebsignoficant progress on 'natural aging'?

I don't really have a gender, but the name I picked does, so my face matches it. I like my name and my face, but I could have liked a male name and face. I wouldn't have preferred to go without a gender entirely because that seems like it would make me require even more explanation than I already do to new people, whereas this way they can mostly think of me as humanlike plus special powers.

The haut live a long time, in some cases exceeding 200 years, and "age well" in the sense that we tend to be able-bodied (or at least not beyond the power of modern medicine) and look younger than an heirloom human of the same age, up to the end of our lifespans. But we still die of old age, which annoys me. There are a few promising avenues for omitting the tendency entirely but haut geneticists can't test them extensively while bound by the constraint of the hypothetical ability to have random-assembly children with heirloom humans.

The Albish and I think also English version of the name "Yseult" is Isolde, if that's what you're asking. The pronunciation is approximately "ee-SULT". But with a Callian accent.
