So we've started answering comments in "How To Read Effulgence" in character, and that's not really the ideal platform for those conversations. This is! You may address characters here and we may opt to answer in character. You will get a kind of loosely "backstage" out-of-continuity version of the character (in continuity proper, you cannot talk to them, since you aren't there) and if you want them at a specific (past relative to where we're writing) point in time, feel free to specify (e.g. "Addy in 1932", "Shell in her box", "the Joker while committed", "Minus right after he woke up from turning", "the alethiometer on the subject of 1207").

Any glowfic author may use this thread to receive questions.

My ability to worship Jovah was predicated entirely on my being consistently reassured that he had something in mind, behind the scenes, which made up for the manifestly obvious deficiencies in the operation of the world. Because the religion was universal (barring Alleluia and Caleb) on my world at the time, I was confident that he was at least reassuring everyone that things would be all right in the long run, even if the details were not for our ears during our lifetimes.

Any actual "divine" power in Samaria - Jovah having been ruled out - is not only leaving as many gaps in their management as I ever believed he was, but is not even troubling to inform the population that things are under control. The obvious explanation is that things are not under control until I make them that way - whatever beings may or may not populate my world and whatever abilities they may have, they are not suitable objects of worship.

I don't expect to find anything even loosely matching the description, though. There were and are non-human societies among the stars, although they - having contacted humans in the distant past and become embroiled in many of the same wars - are in a similar state of having either been wiped out or relinquished technology from any given colony. (Elsewise I would be setting up my interventions with more promptness, but there are no very large, non-jarring, shallow-learning-curve changes I can make offplanet right now, so the stability of Samaria - in particular my business-as-usual assumption of the office of Archangel - is the priority.) And while I was checking on these nonhumans, I did not see any that appeared to have supernatural powers of any kind.
