Talk To Glowfic Characters

So we've started answering comments in "How To Read Effulgence" in character, and that's not really the ideal platform for those conversations. This is! You may address characters here and we may opt to answer in character. You will get a kind of loosely "backstage" out-of-continuity version of the character (in continuity proper, you cannot talk to them, since you aren't there) and if you want them at a specific (past relative to where we're writing) point in time, feel free to specify (e.g. "Addy in 1932", "Shell in her box", "the Joker while committed", "Minus right after he woke up from turning", "the alethiometer on the subject of 1207").

Any glowfic author may use this thread to receive questions.

Phoenix, what would you do if you came across a wizard or witch using a memory charm on a muggle? Or any other type of harmful magic?

It might depend on what else I knew about the situation. I'm not exactly a duelist. If it was just a memory charm and not a curse or something and I didn't think the wizard would escalate to other kinds of violence, I might try getting physically in the way and try to talk them out of it, since I know they can't affect me. If I thought they were doing it illegally instead of just unethically, I might try to get a sensible grownup, like Mrs. Stark or Healer Song or one of the good teachers. If I thought I could talk an elf into helping without the elf getting hurt I might call an elf. If it was really bad I might ask an elf to get Feral for me again, but I'd have to be pretty sure the wizard needed to be dead to prevent something worse from happening. I don't know anything about whether I can block bad spells with my Patronus or something; I should experiment with it.

Where’d you get the idea of blocking spells with a Patronus? It doesn’t seem like the kind of thing they usually do. Do you know if regular ones block spells?

[[I’m not even sure a anthropomorphic Patronus can regularly block spells as seen in MoR, or if that’s more a property of the people involved]]

Well, they're corporeal - that's the word for when you've got it right is "corporeal Patronus". If a wall can block a spell then a Patronus might too, and I don't think the Patronus could be permanently hurt so it seems worth trying if I ever need to. There wasn't anything in the books I read about using them that way but mine's different, so who knows?
