I found when Alice met this Matilda (in case it wasn't clear, I'd meant the one mentioned at the recent party, who the peal as a whole hadn't yet met and who more closely followed the books): it was during the trip to Milliways where he met the Joker. This still doesn't cover if she had magic or, like the book Matilda, was unable to use it once she skipped to a more appropriate grade level.
